HUNGOVER? Forgotten that the clocks went forward? Can’t remember how you got home? And is that really kebab sauce down the front of your kilt?

Good – I hope you enjoyed Hampden yesterday!

In 1000 years time, when football philosophers and purists gather to study the greatest games of all time – they won’t be reaching for Scotland v Georgia 2007!

Lets be honest, as a Scotland fan, there were parts of this game that made me want to reach for a boak bag. Particularly the last 20 minutes of the first half.

What the feck was going on out there?

Whether we lost our shape or Georgia changed their tactics to bypass our midfield – I’m not qualified to judge. But something happened. And if it happens again in Bari, the spaghetti fuelled hit men will have a field day.

But Eck managed to turn it around – and bringing on Scott Brown changed the entire match. As a humble Ayr United fan, I don’t get to see much of Scott in the flesh. But the boy’s got it alright.

After we scored the winner, the last few minutes was a nerve-shredding replay of the closing minutes of the France game. I was forced to break Hampden’s by-laws and light up my first fag of the whole match.

By that stage, getting huckled out by the stewards and police would probably have been less stressful than watching Georgia’s final free-kick from the edge of the box!

Buy hey – three points is all that mattered.

And short of England losing and finding a naked Terri Hatcher with two curries on the train back to the coast – it was a great day.

From my first pint in the Ferry at noon to a final slurp of Kelburn Brewery’s new Tartan Army Ale in the Bon Accord  – it was fun all the way.

On the train home, a punter asked why we all wear our kilts at matches but not all the time. Obviously not a TA man, I think he was trying to take the piss.

“Which team do you support?”

“The Cel’ic” he said.

“Well, you guys all wear The Hoops on match days - but not all the time. So what’s the difference?”

I think he got the point. He stared into space after that and bolted off at Kilwinning.

A Celtic fan in Kilwinning? Yes, I thought that as well.

But Saturday’s three points will put a spring in my step as I board Tartan Army Travel’s flight to Bari on Tuesday morning.

A point on Wednesday would be fabulous. But taking three yesterday gives us a comfort zone to take the game to the Italians.

Booze ban in Bari? I’m saving my reaction to that for my Record column on Tuesday.

See you in Italy boys!
